Rotary Fellowship of Conducting
and Communication

The Rotary Fellowship of Conducting and Communication (RFCC) brings together Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors, and others through a shared interest in music, leadership, and communication.

In Rotary, leadership is not defined by position alone but also by the ability to inspire, to communicate clearly, and to unite people around a shared purpose. The role of the contemporary conductor fully embodies these three principles.

The RFCC casts a light on the role of the conductor while simultaneously translating the conductor’s artistic excellence into practical leadership skills applicable across professions and cultures even outside of the traditional musical context.

The RFCC seeks to enhance music appreciation through

  • a better understanding of the conductor's role,

  • exploring the conductor’s techniques, gestures, and communication methods,  and

  • recognizing the lives and legacies of renowned conductors.

It applies conducting principles to broader Rotary and professional contexts by focusing  on

  • Nonverbal communication and body language,

  • Leadership under pressure and scrutiny, and

  • Motivation, presence, and audience engagement.

These tools are directly transferable to

  • Public speaking and presentations,

  • Teaching and mentoring,

  • Sales, negotiations, and meetings, and

  • Every day interpersonal communication.

The RFCC operates through webinars, seminars, online meetings, workshops, presentations, and live performances and trainings supporting Rotary's core values of service, fellowship, diversity, integrity, and leadership.

To foster International Understanding Through Music, RFCC will work toward the creation of the Rotary International Symphonic Orchestra (RISO) -  an orchestra ideally composed of musicians representing Rotary countries worldwide.

Through performances, e.g., at major Rotary events,  RISO will

  • Promote peace and international cooperation,

  • Demonstrate unity through artistic collaboration, and

  • Serve as a cultural ambassador of Rotary values.
